The department of medical sciences is a large clinical institution with around 250 employees and more than 900 affiliated at the Uppsala University Hospital. The department has a broad research profile with strong research teams within a range of areas. The research is closely linked to the clinical work at the hsopital and includes both basic research to identify causes of disease as well as the development and evaluation of improved diagnosis and treatment. At the psychiatry research group within the department, multidisciplinary research is conducted that spans a large part of the psychiatric disease panorama. A rapidly growing field within the group is the use of multimodal brain imaging, including PET, MR and neurophysiological measures. I several projects, these are combined with non-invasive brain stimulation to gain more causal insight into disease mechanisms behind different psychiatric conditions. The overarching aim is to offer more effective treatment options in the future. All research in conducted in close cooperation with the psychiatric clinic at the University hospital.

Duties
The duties for this postdoc position entail collection of data using neurophysiological measurement tools, the administration of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) with neuronavigation, recruitment of participants to ongoing studies, as well as modeling and analysis of already collected neurophysiological data and multimodal imaging data. Presentation at international conferences and the authoring of scientific papers is also part of the duties, as well as administrative work and applying for grants.

Requirements
PhD degree in neuroscience, psychiatry or psychology. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered for the employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.

Requirements include knowledge in data processing within programming environments (such as Matlab, R, or Python). Personal abilities including independence, taking initiatives, and good organizational abilities. Proficiency in English is a requirement.

Additional qualifications
Earlier experience working with TMS and neurophysiological measures is of merit as well as experience with brain imaging analysis.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position of 2 years according to central collective agreement. Full time position. Starting date October 1st 2024 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala.
