The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University has a broad research profile with research groups focused on different areas including, cancer, autoimmune, and genetic diseases. One of the core ideas at the department is to stimulate translational research, thereby promoting closer collaboration between medical research and healthcare. Research is conducted in cancer precision medicine, cancer immunotherapy, genomics and neurobiology, molecular tools and functional genomics, neuro-oncology and neurodegeneration, and vascular biology. Parts of the research conducted at IGP is also integrated with the departments of oncology, clinical genetics, clinical immunology, clinical pathology, and hospital physics at Uppsala University Hospital. The department has teaching responsibilities in several program courses, independent courses, and international master's programs within the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Science and Technology. The department's turnover is about 500 million SEK, with more than half coming from external research grants. The number of employees is approximately 345, of which about 100 are doctoral students, and there are a total of over 700 people working in the department. Job Description
The research assistant will work in medical research, carrying out research assignments and assistant tasks within medical cancer research. Specifically, the research assistant will conduct experimental research where brain cells and brain tumor cells will be studied in cell cultures to investigate tumor evolution and treatment resistance. The work includes cell culture and experimental lab methods, genetic cloning, screening with CRISPR technology, immunostaining, and genetic and epigenetic analysis of material sequenced at the single-cell level. Over time, the assistant will manage more independent projects. Administration and minor teaching may be included in the duties.

Qualifications
The research assistant must have a master's degree in biomedicine, medicine, or equivalent.

Desirable/Additional Merits
Proficient experience with CRISPR methods, epigenetics, and brain tumor research is desirable.
