Two amanuenses in organic chemistry and technical support

The Department of Chemistry – BMC conducts research and education at both undergraduate and advanced levels in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and organic chemistry. More information about us can be found on the department's website.

Duties
As an amanuens, you will partly participate in the teaching of organic chemistry at basic and advanced level. The tasks include instructing and supervising students in the lab, documenting their progress and assessing e.g. laboratory reports. As amanuens you will also participate in the technical support by e.g. prepare for laboratory exercises, maintain the labs, handle chemicals and waste.

Requirements

As an applicant, you are an active student in the master's program in chemistry or the master's program in chemical engineering - specialization pharmaceuticals at Uppsala University. Employment as amanuensis is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance ch. 5. Only those who have been admitted to education at basic level or advanced level may be employed as amanuens (HF 5 kap §10).

Experience of advanced experimental laboratory work in organic chemistry and characterization of compounds with NMR spectroscopy is a requirement. For one of the positions, the ability to express oneself in Swedish in speech and writing is a requirement.

For this position great importance is placed on personal qualities such as initiative, communication and cooperation skills.

Additional qualifications
Knowledge of the Department of Chemistry-BMC's working methods, routines and systems for handling chemicals is a strong merit.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position according to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5 § 12. Scope of employment 40-50%. Starting date August 1st or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
