Teaching assistant in Systems Science

At the Department of Informatics and Media, we teach and research in information systems, human-computer interaction and media and communication science. The strength of this composition is that we gather expertise, networks and researchers from different but at the same time touching areas. Thus, we achieve synergy effects while at the same time the differences generate a creative and exciting research environment.

Work duties

The work involves administration in relation to courses within systems science bachelor's and master's programmes, but also to assist in teaching moments such as labs and lessons. The work also includes grading and supervision.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree with 90 credits in information systems, computer- and systems science or equivalent.  You are expected to have good language skills in English, both in speech and writing.

Terms

Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated in Higher Education Ordinance (Högskoleförordningen), chapter 5. Only the person who has been admitted to undergraduate or advanced education may be employed as a teaching assistant (HF chapter 5, § 10).

Other merits

The work places great demands on collaborative ability and on being able to independently pursue and complete tasks within given time frames, even during temporary work peaks. Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability, such as the ability to take initiative and solve problems in a constructive way for the organization. It is meritorious if you have completed courses or experience in pedagogy as well as if you have good language skills in Swedish, both in speech and writing. We also see it as meritorious if you are currently studying the first year of the Master's program in Systems Science at Uppsala University and if you have programming experience in the Python and are able to work remotely during the summer of 2025.

The application should contain a brief description of your educational ethos, how you view education and your view on teaching others. The application must also include a CV and a certificate of studies as well as a study result.

Salary: Individual wage setting is applied

Starting date: 2024-08-26 or as otherwise agreed

Type of employment: Temporary position through 2025-06-30

Scope of employment: 10 – 15% according to agreement
