The Department of Archaeology and Ancient History is a multidisciplinary department that conducts teaching and research in the subjects of Classical History, Archaeology, Osteology, Egyptology and Global Environmental History. Environmental Histories 2025
The Climate Histories conference is held in Uppsala 18-23 august 2025 and is organised in collaboration with KTH and Stockholm University. We are now looking for an event coordinator to assist in the planning of the conference. 

We are now looking for a project assistant to assist in the planning of the conference.

Duties
To plan and organise conference activities. The event coordinator has overall responsibility for communications and webpage dissemination. The conference will include public events and art interventions. The event coordinator also interacts with hosting organisations such as the European Society of Environmental History, the Integrated History and Future of People on Earth Research Network and Future Earth.

Requirements

  • University education with a minimum of Master degree in a related subject
  • Proven written and spoken English language skills.
  • Documented experience as webmaster and webpage design.
  • Prior experience of conference organisation.
  • Prior experience from organising art and creative events.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal experience and competence as well as how the applicant is judged to complement and strengthen the work around the conference. To fit into the role, you are expected to have the ability to work independently, be meticulous and service-oriented, and have a structured way of working. You are flexible and get your tasks done on time. You have a good ability to handle situations where the workload is periodically high with an ability to handle many tasks at the same time.

Additional qualifications
The following experiences will be highly valued in an application: Previous experience from one or several of the above mentioned receiving organizations; ability to find funders and write funding applications and prior educational and practical experience from the arts and creative industries.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, ca 12 months. Scope of employment 20 %. Starting date 1 September or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
