Uppsala University, Department of Peace and Conflict Research

The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace research and offer courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 90 persons are employed at the Department and at present some 1000 students are enrolled every academic year. Duties
Duties for a teaching assistant, can include teaching, administration or participation in research or artistic research.

The focus for the position within UCDP, will be on collecting and coding information on organized violence into UCDP:s online coding interface, as well as on updating and writing new texts in the programs encyclopedia. 

Requirements
For employment as a teaching assistant, it is a requirement that you are admitted as a student at undergraduate or advanced level.

For this position, you will also need the following qualifications;

  • Bachelor’s degree in peace and conflict studies
  • Very good knowledge of UCDP and its definitions
  • Documented experience of working with conflict data (coding/data management)
  • Proficiency in English (verbally and in writing)
  • Documented ability to work independently
  • Good cooperation skills.

Additional qualifications
Earlier experience of collecting conflict data relating to southeast Asia or southern Africa.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position according to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5 § 12. Scope of employment 20 %. Starting date: 2 September 2024, or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala.
