The present position is within the Department of Women’s and Children’s health and the research group International Child Health and Nutrition, which hosts the Swedish Research Council funded project, PREVENT (https://www.uu.se/en/department/womens-and-childrens-health/research/global-health-and-migration-unit/international-child-health-and-nutrition.

The PREVENT project aims to co-design, implement and test a tele-health coaching intervention with community outreach for the reduction of cardio-metabolic risk among high-risk population in Region Uppsala. It builds on a previous EU project and uses a mixed methods approach comprising a co-design component and an implementation trial. The interdisciplinary consortium comprises two higher education institutions (Uppsala University and Karolinska Institutet), Region Uppsala and the Swedish Industrial Design Foundation, specializing in co-design for system and policy transformations.

Duties

  • Be responsible for conducting field activities according to the project plan and maintain accurate records of all field activities
  • Be responsible for organising co-design workshops and recruiting participants in consultation with other PREVENT investigators and community stakeholders
  • Setting up and conducting participant screening procedures including point-of-care blood tests or collection of other biological samples as required
  • Support in developing relevant documents for field activities such as study protocols, standard operating procedures, study plans, and material for ethics committee submissions and informed consent procedures
  • Conduct recruitment and high-quality data collection procedures, particularly using qualitative research methods and ensure that data is stored in accordance with laws
  • Collaborate with researchers and students in our project group and other partners to set up field activities
  • Contribute to process improvements ideas and implementation in our Standard Operating Procedures
  • Other tasks as decided by the project leader

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in global health or public health or equivalent degree in social sciences;
  • Documented experience in field research of at least 1 year, including qualitative data collection, stakeholder mobilization and participant recruitment, both in Sweden and internationally.
  • Documented experience of drafting methodological processes and plans and implementing them
  • Documented experience of conducting qualitative analysis and proficiency in the use of qualitative analytical software
  • Documented experience of working with participatory approaches in health promotion
  • Fluency and excellent writing skills in Swedish and English

Additional qualifications

  • Experience in quantitative data collection or analysis
  • Strong initiative to develop and plan field activities
  • A strong interest in field research
  • Team player with experience in interdisciplinary teams with broad expertise such as public or global health, anthropology, health systems, social robotics, etc.
  • Experience of collaborating with non-academic partners in field work
  • Experience in organizing or leading team events
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and efficient with strong problem-solving skills as well as flexible mindset enjoying multiple tasks

About the employment
The employment is a permanent position (probationary period may be applied). Scope of employment 50 %. Starting date 1 September 2024 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
