Uppsala University, Department of Chemistry - Ångström Laboratory

The Department of Chemistry - Ångström conducts research and education in the chemistry field. The department has more than 270 employees and has a turnover of 300 million SEK. At the department's six programs, we conduct very successful research of a high international standard. We have a large number of externally funded research projects, often with international cooperation and we see continued good growth in our subject area. The researcher will be part of Dr. Haining Tian’s group  within the physical chemistry program. 

Duties
The main duties involved in this position is to conduct research. The candidate will perform research to develop and study organic polymer nano-particles for solar fuel production by using different catalysts including metalic catalysts, molecular catalysts and biocatalysts for solar fuels production. Part of this position will collaborate with several groups within within EU and China. Teaching might be included, max 20%, such as supervision of students in lab is possible upon agreement. 

Requirements
For employment as researcher, the applicant should have a PhD exam or an international equivalent in chemistry or other for the position relevant fields. The applicant must have knowledge on photochemistry, electrochemistry and photo(electro)catalysis and have documented experience on use of these knowledge in articial photosynthesis. The cadidate must be able to independently conduct organic synthesis of molecules and materials.

The assessment of applications is based primarily on the applicant's ability to conduct independent research based on scientific skill. Greater importance is attached to the quality of individual scientific work, than to the amount of publications. A good level of written and spoken English as well as the ability to work in a team is required.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Consideration will also be given to i.e. good collaborative skills and drive, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the administrative work within the unit/department, as well as contribute to its future development.

Additional qualifications
Experience in synthesis and study of polymer nanoparticles in photocatalysis is highly meriting. Additionally, experience in fabrication of photoelectronchemical devices for chemical transformation is advantageous. Previous postdoctoral experience or equivalent is desirable. 

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, 5months. Scope of employment 100%. Starting date 1 August 2024 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
