Duties
The goal with the project is to develop biopharmaceuticals targeting Alzheimer’s disease but also increase the uptake of these biopharmaceuticals in the brain. We do the whole process starting from designing the biopharamceuticals (can be proteins or viruses for gene therapy), producing then and then test them in vitro and in vivo. Included in the tasks are also some administrative tasks.

Requirements
To meet the entry requirements for doctoral studies, you must

  • hold a Master’s (second-cycle) degree in biopharmaceuticals, biotechnology engineering, pharmacy or biomedicine or other similar education, or
  • have completed at least 240 credits in higher education, with at least 60 credits at Master’s level including an independent project worth at least 15 credits, or
  • have acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way.

 We place great emphasis on personal suitability as well as motivation and interest in the research area. We are looking for an applicant that has great laboratory skills, be able to work individually and have good cooperating skills. Applicants should be able to express themselves well, both verbally and writing in English. We are looking for a curious person that will help contribute to the good atmosphere in the group.

Additional qualifications
Meriting is work life experience with biopharmaceuticals in vitro and in animal research models and a FELASA certificate. Knowledge of biochemical and biophysical methods, experience with protein expression and protein purification, is an advantage. To technically master i.v. injections in mice is a big benefit.
