The department announces one position as researcher in the Gender and Work (GaW) research project at Uppsala University.

Duties
Gender and Work is a two-decades-long research project (2008–2029) currently financed by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) and the Wallenberg Foundations. The goal of the project is to conduct empirical historical research into women’s and men’s work and to develop theoretical and methodological tools regarding work, including research infrastructure. Information about the project can be found at https://www.uu.se/forskning/gender-and-work/.

The GaW project now welcomes a scholar who is interested in using the project’s methodology in studies of Eastern-European early modern societies, such as for instance Czech, Polish, Estonian, Latvian or Lithuanian societies. The successful applicant is expected to participate actively in project meetings, seminars and workshops, etc. at the department and within the GaW group. Commuting will be accepted, but the successful applicant should be at the department at least once per month.

Requirements
To be eligible the applicant must have a Ph.D. in history or another humanities or social sciences discipline relevant to research in history. The applicant must have the linguistic skills required for doing historical research about the country in question.

Additional qualifications
Familiarity with the verb-oriented method, developed by the Gender and Work-project, will be regarded as a valuable qualification. We encourage applicants from all countries to apply. Project meetings and seminars are in both Swedish and English. The successful applicant will for instance have knowledge of court records and other social history sources. The candidate should also be familiar with quantitative methods and have an interest in teamwork.
