SWEDESD – Sustainabiliy Learning and Research Centre, Department of Women's and Children's Health, Uppsala University, hereby announces a 100% position as research assistant. SWEDESD is a transdisciplinary center that focuses on transformative learning and implementation research with a focus on global health and sustainability. Duties
The position focuses on quantitative data analysis of household survey datasets on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) from Bangladesh, Kenya, Ethiopia, in close collaboration with Dr. Sarah Dickin. This data will be used to construct an index for measuring women’s empowerment in the WASH sector, and connections to other outcomes like livelihoods, climate change, and health. The responsibilities of the candidate will include data cleaning and organizing datasets, index construction, cross-country comparisons, statistical and econometric analysis, as well as background research like literature reviews and minor administrative tasks. The candidate will be invited to co-author papers for conference presentations or journal submissions to support their future career development. 

Requirements
Advanced university education with strong quantitative training, preferably in global health, international development, economics, geography, or related disciplines. Advanced knowledge of SAS and/or Stata and experience with household survey data from low-income countries is needed, as well as experience working with indices. Experience with the Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture index and similar empowerment indices would be an asset. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required as the work will be conducted in English.

Personal qualities such as analytical curiosity, flexibility, and organizational skills are also important as there are several datasets to handle and keep organized, and the candidate will be invited to form their own research questions. Furthermore, you should be self-motivated, cooperative, as well as be able to carry out your tasks independently.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, 3 months. Scope of employment 100%. Starting date according to agreement. Placement: Uppsala
