Teaching assistant

The Department of Earth Sciences at Uppsala University is Sweden´s largest and most versatile department of its kind. The department has approximately 280 employees. Our activities are interdisciplinary and combine natural science and technology with social science. We have research programs in air, water and landscape science; geophysics; natural resources and sustainable development; petrology, mineralogy and tectonics; paleobiology, and wind energy. By investigating the history of Earth, we understand how our planet has developed over time and how sustainable development benefits from this knowledge.

The Wind Energy Unit at Campus Gotland conducts interdisciplinary activities in planning, design and optimization of wind power and sustainable energy transition. The activities consist of teaching, research and collaborative projects. The education consists of teaching on campus and distance learning at basic and advanced level in wind power design and sustainable energy transition. In research, we have a solid breadth and collaborate both nationally and internationally. Today, the organization includes about 20 people with technical, natural and social science skills.

Duties
As a teaching assistant, you work alongside your ongoing studies. Duties include teaching, administration or participation in research or artistic research. Marketing our bachelor’s programme. Communicating with incoming students.

Requirements
For employment as a teaching assistant, it is a requirement that you are admitted as a student at undergraduate or advanced level. Good comprehension of both written and spoken English.

Additional qualifications
It is an advantage if you are admitted to the Bachelor"s Programme in Energy Transition - Sustainability and Leadership or have been admitted to a programme in a similar field (i.e. energy, sustainability or leadership).

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position according to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5 § 12 until 2025-05-31. Scope of employment 20%). Starting date 2024-06-01 or as agreed. Placement: Visby, Gotland.
