Uppsala University, Department of Game Design

The Department of Game Design is part of the Faculty of History and Philosophy at Uppsala University. Its teaching and research alike are highly advanced. The Department has some 450 full-time students, roughly half of whom are from outside Sweden, and about 45 employees in various job categories. It offers teaching in game design and development at basic and advanced level, with graphics, project management and programming as minors. All education takes place in English.

Game Design is located at Uppsala University - Campus Gotland, an international campus in the middle of world heritage town Visby.

For employment as a teaching assistant, it is a requirement that you are admitted as a student at undergraduate or advanced level.

Duties
We hereby announce one to two temporary positions as an Teaching assistant 10-15% of a full-time position in Game Design with a specialisation in programming April - May 2024, mainly to support students in the courses vertical slice and Arcade with the implementation of graphics and blueprint scripting in Unreal Engine.

The position as an Teaching assistant includes teaching-related and administrative duties associated with the Game Design study programmes. More specifically, they involve answering the students’ questions and assisting in practical course modules through tutoring and providing guidance with programming related issues, and helping to process student assignments.

Administrative tasks include, but are not limited to, receiving and passing on students’ questions, as well as assisting with evaluations and other administration work.

Requirements
You, are studying on any of the Game Design programmes at Uppsala University, Campus Gotland, at either of the Bachelor’s or Master’s degree level. You have very good knowledge of GIT and Unreal Enginel, in adition, you should have good knowledge of the structure and pedagogical idea of the game design programmes, especially Game Design and programming.  Good computer skills and a good language skills in English both spoken and written. You are good at taking initiative and cooperating with others. You must be capable of independently carrying out and completing your duties within specified time limits. Heavy emphasis will be laid on personal suitability.

Additional qualifications
Experience of more software and knowledge of software such as Unity, Unreal and Jira is merit.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position according to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5 § 12. Scope of employment 10-20%.
Starting date 1 April 2024 or as agreed until 31 May 2024. Placement: Visby
