Description
Development of new antibiotics is a central part in the work to address the challenge of antibiotic resistance. The ENABLE-2 platform was established in 2021 and provides support to academia and small biotech companies in the early stages of antibiotic development. This includes both antibiotic development expertise as well as experimental support including synthesis, microbiology, ADME studies and in vivo trials. We work integrated in a project form together with researchers from different disciplines and countries. We are now looking for four medicinal chemists to join the platform.

Duties
Medicinal chemistry applied to antibacterial drug discovery projects. The main task is to carry out your own experiments; planning, synthesis, isolation and characterization of new antibacterial compounds. Contribute to compounds design, synthetic route design and synthesis troubleshooting, contribute to SAR development. It also includes involvement in maintenance of common laboratory equipment at the Department.

Requirements
A PhD in organic chemistry or preparative medicinal chemistry. Documented experience in the area of preparative synthetic chemistry. Ability to work in a team and good organizational skills and initiative are required. Excellent written and oral knowledge of English is required. Particular emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Additional qualifications
Documented experience of research in the areas of organic pharmaceutical chemistry and preparative medicinal chemistry after completed PhD studies. Experience in antibacterial drug discovery. It is important that you are a highly motivated with the ability to work well in an interdisciplinary environment with many collaborators. A good understanding of drug development including Structure-based drug design, ADME, toxicity, in vivo testing etc. Industrial experience or documented expertise in "Hit-to-Lead" optimization is a merit.
