Research assistant in Computational Linguistics - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Department of Linguistics and Philology is involved in research and education in a number oflanguages and language-related subjects and provides an international work environment.Thedepartment’s activities cover many of the classical and modern languages and cultures in large areas ofEurope,Asia andAfrica, as well as computational and general linguistics. Education is offered at theBachelor, Master and PhD levels.

Duties/Project Description
The position is tied to the knowledge center Swedish in a Multilingual Setting (SMS) within the research infrastructure Swe-Clarin. The specific project deals with development of Swedish corpus resources with annotation according to the framework Universal Dependencies (UD). The main duties consist in revising annotated corpora to ensure that they conform to the conventions of UD and are compatible with corpora for other Scandinavian languages, a task that is performed through a combination of programmatic processing and manual validation. In addition, other development work within UD may occur.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degre in computational linguistics, computer science or a linguistic subject.
• Documented competence in developing basic computer programs.
• Documented competence in grammatical theory and analysis.
• Proficiency in Swedish.

Additional Qualifications

• Work life experience as research assistant or similar.
• Knowledge about UD and experience of tools such as UDAPI and GrewMatch.
