Uppsala University, Department of Chemistry - Ångström Laboratory

The Department of Chemistry - Ångström conducts research and education in the chemistry field. The department has more than 270 employees and has a turnover of 300 million SEK. At the department's six programs, we conduct very successful research of a high international standard. We have a large number of externally funded research projects, often with international cooperation and we see continued good growth in our subject area. The researcher will be part of Dr. Haining Tian’s group (https://www.kemi.uu.se/research/physical-chemistry/research-groups/haining-tian-group/) within the physical chemistry program.

Duties
The main duties involved in this position is to conduct research. For example the candidate will study organic catalysts for fuels production with various spectroscopic techniques. The candidate will collaborate with several groups within Sweden. Teaching and supervision are not part of the duties.

Requirements
For employment as researcher, the applicant should have a PhD exam or an international equivalent in chemistry or other for the position relevant fields. The applicant must have research experience of photochemistry, electrochemistry and transient spectroscopy and have work experience in renewable energy. In addition to this, the applicant must have research experience in molecules and their functionalization.

The assessment of applications is based primarily on the applicant's ability to conduct independent research based on scientific skill. Greater importance is attached to the quality of individual scientific work, than to the amount of publications. A good level of written and spoken English as well as the ability to work in a team is required.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Consideration will also be given to i.e. good collaborative skills and drive, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the administrative work within the unit/department, as well as contribute to its future development.

Additional qualifications
Previous experience of postdoctoral work within the subject area or similar is also desirable.
