Research Assistant in Genetic Research - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The research group within Clinical Geriatrics is looking to recruit a Research Assistant for a temporary position. The research group is conducting cutting-edge research about the role of genes and the immune system in Alzheimer’s disease development. We work in a interdisciplinary environment at the Rudbeck Laboratory.

Duties
The work is conducted within a research project investigating the diversity of bacteria in humans. The main duties are administration and processing of already collected bio material, primarily to investigate presence of bacteria and to determine and normalize bacterial DNA concentrations. Work duties also encompass written and oral reporting of data, preparation of results for scientific papers and some administrative tasks for the research group.

Requirements
Bachelors degree in a relevant field (such as Bio-medicine, Molecular biology and Molecular medicine). Practical experience in wet laboratory work with DNA. Very good collaboration and communication skills in English. Good computer skills. Analytical abilities and ability for structured and independent work.

Qualifications desired
Masters degree in a relevant field (such as Biomedicine, Molecular biology and Molecular medicine). Previous experience in wet laboration-oriented research projects involving biomaterial, microbiome or DNA, and familiarity with gel electrophoresis, PCR and methods for quantification of DNA such as Qubit. Experience in bioinformatic analysis of sequencing data.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position until December 31 2024, with possible extension. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date as soon as possible or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
