A post-doc position is available in the Department of Mathematics, to work with Associate Professor Cecilia Holmgren and Professor Svante Janson in the areas Probability Theory and Combinatorics, more specifically Combinatorial Probability Theory.
Duties
The duties of a Post-doc are primarily directed at their own research. The work may also involve, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), other departmental duties, mainly related to teaching courses.
The aim of the research is to study various problems in combinatorial probability theory and to develop methods for the study of such problems. This includes, for example, random trees, random graphs, percolation theory and probabilistic problems from the study of algorithms.
Requirements
PhD degree in Mathematics or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in Mathematics. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered for the employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.
The candidate should have a good command of spoken and written English, knowledge of Swedish is not required.
Additional qualifications
A strong background in probability theory and combinatorics will be an advantage as well as earlier research results in that area.
