Teaching includes lectures, seminars, course responsibility, course administration, and supervision. The teaching will be conducted at both the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels in the study programmes in game design, and more specifically within the specialisation game programming. The duties include monitoring developments in your subject area and in society, and actively contributing to the development of both the Department and the University. The duties also include actively applying for external research funding. Physical presence at the workplace is required for active participation in the Department’s work.

Qualification requirements
To be eligible for employment as a senior lecturer, the candidate must have a PhD in a field relevant to the position or equivalent research expertise, demonstrated teaching expertise, and the personal characteristics required to perform the duties of the position well. A prerequisite for having demonstrated teaching expertise is that applicants have completed teacher training for higher education of relevance to activities at the University, comprising at least ten weeks, or have acquired the equivalent knowledge. Assessment criteria

Research expertise
When assessing research expertise, research quality will be the prime consideration. The scope of the research, particularly in terms of its depth and breadth, will also be taken into account. Research initiatives in game design and/or game programming shall be given particular weight. Furthermore, consideration shall be given to the capacity to plan, initiate, lead and develop research, the ability to acquire funding for research in competition, as well as the demonstrated capacity to interact with others both within academia and in the wider community.

Teaching expertise
When assessing teaching expertise, teaching quality will be the primary consideration. Teaching expertise must be thoroughly documented so that the quality can also be assessed. The scope, in terms of both breadth and depth, will also be considered, along with experience of teaching game design and game programming. Furthermore, consideration will be given to the capacity to plan, initiate, lead, and develop teaching and instruction, as well as the ability to connect research to teaching. The ability to interact with actors inside and outside the University in relation to issues of teaching and learning in higher education is also given weight when assessing teaching expertise.

When the University appoints new teachers, it will select the applicants who, upon a qualitative overall assessment of their competence and expertise, are judged to have the best potential to perform and develop the duties concerned and to contribute to the positive development of activities. As the teaching is largely conducted in teams of teachers, the ability of cooperate with colleagues is a significant criteria also.
