The Department of Medical Sciences is a large clinical institution with more than 250 employees and over 900 additional coworkers connected via the Uppsala University Hospital. The position as Postdoctoral fellow in Health Data Analytics is physically located at the AI4Research laboratory with the Anders Wiklöf Institute for Heart Research in the Clinical Epidemiology group. The group leads large-scale national and international cohort consortia; leads innovative randomized clinical trials; and leads methods development focused on using big data to guide risk estimation, treatment decisions, and evaluation of treatment effects, risks and costs; leveraging a variety of big data from traditional sources such as clinical trials and cohorts with multiple -omics data, and emerging ones such as electronic health records and patient-generated data.

Duties
Research on methods in epidemiology, statistics and machine learning, and application of them in medicine. Leading role in statistical analyses in research projects. Advisory role to junior colleagues on data analytics matters.

Requirements
PhD degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in statistics, mathematics, data sciences, epidemiology, or similar fields. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered for the employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.

Documented experience of working with various types of healthcare data (various file formats, disease coding systems, drug prescriptions, surgical procedures) and/or other types of human data (e.g., genomics, proteomics, metabolomics).

Documented experience in data management, quality control, statistical analysis and visualization of healthcare data and human data.

Additional qualifications
Experience working with large-scale and sensitive human data in a secure Linux environment with R, Python or other software suitable for big data analysis and machine learning.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position of at least 2 years and at most 3 years according to central collective agreement. Full time position. Starting date as soon as possible. Placement: Uppsala
