Uppsala University, Department of Mathematics

The Centre for Geometry and Physics at Uppsala University, sponsored by the Swedish Research Council as a Center for Excellence, has recently been established jointly by the Department of Mathematics and the Division of Theoretical Physics in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Consult the webpages of the Department of Mathematics and the Division of Theoretical Physics for more information.

This call is for three postdoctoral positions for conducting research at the Centre. Research areas of particular interest include, but are not restricted to: algebraic geometry, Gromov-Witten invariants, wall-crossing, symplectic and contact topology, knot theory, supersymmetry, gauge/gravity duality, geometric methods for quantum field theories, generalized and categorical symmetries, integrability, conformal bootstrap methods, and resurgence in quantum fields theories.

Duties
The candidate will conduct research in mathematics and/or theoretical physics at the Centre for Geometry and Physics. This centre has a large interface with the group of geometry and physics at the Department of Mathematics and the group of Theoretical Physics of the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Duties include collaboration with the various members of the centre as well as the aforementioned research groups, and the production of research results.

Requirements
PhD degree in mathematics or in theoretical physics or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in mathematics or in theoretical physics. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered for the employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.

The application should contain a cover letter mentioning their research area, a CV, a brief research statement, and a publication list. Personal circumstances that may be of relevance in the evaluation, for example periods of parental leave, should be mentioned in the CV.

Priority will be given to candidates whose research is in line with the profile of the Centre.
