Description
The Department of Informatics and Media at Uppsala University conducts education and research at Ekonomikum in Uppsala and Campus Gotland in Visby. At the department, different aspects of the conditions, opportunities and consequences of digitalisation are studied in relation to individuals, organisations and social institutions. Tasks
Researcher, specializing in the design, rigorous development and analysis of a smart digital twin for energy optimisation of an airport. This announcement concerns an sixteen-month Vinnova funded research position in Information Systems. Swedavia has a goal of fossil-free domestic flights and fossil-free travel to and from airports by 2030.

The project requires the researcher to model and develop a digital representation of electrical energy usage in parts of Arlanda airport. The researcher will be expected to engage with airport personal to capture the requirements of the digital twin, contribute to its design, collect data, and develop explainable machine learning models to predict airport energy needs.

Additional work tasks at the department (teaching and administration) will be expected (approximately 20%).

Requirements
To qualify for an employment as a researcher you must have a PhD degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in computing science or other field relevant to the task description. We seek a candidate with demonstratable system design experience, extensive programming competences, and familiarity with machine learning libraries.

Candidates must be able to express themselves fluently in spoken as well as written English.

Additional qualifications
A doctorate in computing science is recommended. Fluency in Swedish is considered a merit.
