The Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering consists of three divisions: Industrial Engineering, Quality Science and Management, and Civil Engineering and Built Environment. The department has a strong and international research environment and has approximately 103 employees with research and education both at the Ångström Laboratory in Uppsala and at Campus Gotland. This position will be located at the division of Industrial Engineering in Uppsala. USER - Uppsala Smart Energy Research group – is highly interdisciplinary, combines applied and theoretical, as well as qualitative and quantitative, approach.es. The research group engages in extensive collaboration with the industry and other research environments. The research often focuses on the role of electricity consumers in the transition to a more sustainable energy system. Duties
As a research assistant you contribute to the interdisciplinary research that the research group USER conducts in the area user perspectives on smart grids and the energy transition. The overall aim of the research is to increase knowledge about electricity consumers’, prosumers’ and drivers of electric vehicles’ role in realizing the vision of future smart grids. The research is conducted within the framework of projects that primarily focus on demand response at the user level. You participate in data collection, analysis and compilation of results in collaboration with other members of USER. We offer varied and exciting work that is designed jointly by the members of the research group.
Requirements
As a candidate for this position, you are expected to have a master’s degree in a for the research area relevant social science, humanities, natural sciences or technical discipline. You are also expected to have very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, experience of qualitative research methods and good ability to cooperate.
Additional qualifications
Knowledge about the energy system, its actors and their respective operations as well as the challenges that the energy transition entails is meritorious. So is broad knowledge about different methodological approaches and a genuine interest in interdisciplinary research questions in the subject area at hand as well as good knowledge in Swedish.
About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, 12 months. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 1 January 2024 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
