Uppsala University, Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy

The Department of Pharmacy at Uppsala University has an interdisciplinary environment at the center of the pharmaceutical arena. With frontline research, first-rate education and extensive collaborations we constitute an important driving force in the development of our academic field. The department has approximately 140 employees and a turnover of approximately 140 million. We are looking for a postdoc in pharmacometrics.

In this inspiring environment our rich diversity of research groups, several of international prominence, develop and conduct work of great scientific importance. Among our core competences are pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics, computational modelling and simulations, in vitro ADME models, advanced in vivo methods, development of biological medicines, as well as patient and societal aspects, from optimizing the use of drugs in individuals to societal pharmaceutical policies. Together, we form a unique cluster of academic competences within pharmaceutical science, playing a key role in shaping the future of pharmacy in both Sweden and globally.

Our scientific focus areas in selection: Pharmacometrics • Pharmacodynamics • Pharmacokinetics • Biologics • Clinical Pharmacy • Drug Delivery • Molecular Pharmaceutics • Pharmaceutics and Nanotechnology • Pharmacoeconomics • Pharmacoepidemiology • Pharmacotherapy • Social Pharmacy

Duties
The project involves establishing longitudinal models based on data from clinical trials and observational studies. Several applications concern data from patients with rare diseases and the project aims to develop powerful and robust methods to assess therapeutic effects in clinical studies with small patient populations. The investigations will include models and methods in the range between standard analyzes (e.g., mixed models for repeated measurements) to mechanistically based pharmacometric models (typically non-linear mixed effects models). Aspects such as causal inference and definition of estimands will be included in the project. The projects are run in collaboration with medical and statistical research groups in both academia and industry in Europe.

Requirements
The applicant must have a relevant university degree, e.g., statistics or pharmaceutical science. Applications from highly motivated candidates are welcome.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability and experience of programming-based data management. The applicant must be able to express him/herself well, both in oral and written English. The applicant should also have good collaboration skills and capability and interest in conducting independent research with support from a supervisor.

Additional qualifications
Prior experience of working with health register data is advantageous, as is experience in pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacometrics and epidemiology. We would also like to see that the candidate has experience of R-programming and longitudinal data analysis.

Interest in scientific writing is highly desirable.
