We are now hiring a research assistant for the project:
“Cities and Socio-Economic Segregation over the Long Run, 1880–2017”
The project is financed by the Swedish Research Council (grant no.: 2022-02290) and has the aim of analyzing changes to urban socio-economic segregation over the 1880– 2017 period and how these are linked to shifts in transportation technology and urban planning using data for six Swedish cities. The project will use a combination of historical maps and digitized census data which is combined with contemporary geocoded population registers.
The project will have a large impact on our understanding of the factors that drive socioeconomic segregation. By applying a long-term perspective on the impact of transportation technology and urban planning it provides crucial knowledge to researchers, policy makers, and the interested public for the design of today’s cities.
