The Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Uppsala University is a strong and international research environment. The department has about 85 employees and here, doctoral students, teachers, researchers and administrators work closely together in a creative and open environment. More information about the department can be found at www.ilk.uu.se.
The research at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry spans a wide range of subjects such as medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, analytical pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutical physical chemistry and preclinical positron emission tomography. The department has established environments for early phase antibacterial drug development and mass spectrometry-based metabolomics. We have obtained temporary funding for a cross-disciplinary project encompassing development of a metabolomics-based approach for evaluation of the mechanism of action for new antibacterial candidate substances.
