Project description
The number of people with implanted devices is increasing rapidly. In the future more and more people will have multiple implants that must be networked. We have recently shown that the human body’s adipose can be used for radio frequency communication. By enabling higher data rates than conventional in-body communication methods, our approach makes novel applications such as brain-to-machine interfaces possible. When implanting medical devices in the human body, security is of utmost importance. Our previous research has mostly targeted physical layer security. The next phase of the project will start to look into secure higher-layer protocols.

Duties

  • Design of secure communication protocols for fat-channel communication.
  • Implementation of the protocols on resource-constrained devices.
  • Evaluation of the implementation, analysis of the results and co-authoring scientific publications.

Requirements

  • The applicant must hold a Doctoral degree in electrical engineering or computer science or related areas with a focus on security for embedded devices.
  • Experience with embedded programming, for example, the Contiki operating system.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • We put an emphasis on your personal qualities such as good collaboration and communication skills with other researchers. You should be purposeful, structured and able to work effectively both individually and in groups.

Additional qualifications
Postdoctoral experience.
