The position/s is/are within the research group Healthcare Sciences and e-Health, hosting U-CARE an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research program (http://www.u-care.uu.se). The U-CARE group specializes in, the development, piloting, and evaluation of Mental Health interventions for people with the somatic disease, and their significant others, e.g. e-Health interventions. Representatives of the target groups are involved in our research. U-CARE has several international collaborations and our broad competence within research methodology was acknowledged in the latest evaluation of research conducted at Uppsala University. We have developed the internet-based platform The U-CARE-portal (Portal) that supports internet-administered interventions (e.g. psychological support and treatment) and research procedures such as informed consent, randomization, and data collection. Several feasibility-, pilot-, and controlled studies with principal investigators within U-CARE or in other research groups are conducted on the Portal.

As digital technology can increase access to good and secure care and treatment we have started the work to improve the Portal´s functionality and user-friendliness. The person/s we are looking for will together with other system developers, a researcher, and a PhD student be part of U-CARE’s technical development team.

Duties
The primary responsibility will be to design and development of the Portal with an emphasis on the user interface. Tasks will include maintenance and development of web and mobile-device applications as well as user experience testing. Additional duties may include: technical support of Portal users, technical trouble-shooting, system documentation, and the development of training materials. The successful applicant/s will be expected to eventually master the basic functions of the entire Portal.

Requirements

  • At least two years of work experience as a Frontend developer with React, Typescript, and RESTful APIs.
  • Very good ability to adapt to new developments in the field of IT, and to adapt the work to newer techniques.
  • Very good ability to work independently and with others, show initiative, understand the parts and the whole of the system, deliver work in a timely manner while meeting deadlines, be careful with the details, and document the work in written English.

Additional qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, system science or engineering with an IT focus.
  • Knowledge and experience working with UI frameworks for user-interface development and Test-driven development.
  • Work experience as a Full Stack web developer with NodeJS and/or Python
  • Experience with systems for internet-based research and/or health care and/or e-health.
