Principal duties: The researchers are mainly supposed to be engaged in research and to take care of certain administrative duties associated with the project. However, some duties relating to supervision of students are also possible. The employed researchers are expected to plan, initiate, conduct and develop independently goal-oriented empirical research on information practices related to either making and production or use of archaeological research data in a multi-disciplinary research environment.

 

The position is placed at the Department of ALM at Uppsala University in Uppsala, Sweden. Regular worksite attendance is required.

 

Requirements: To be eligible one must have completed a PhD in a relevant social science or humanities discipline at the latest by the beginning of the employment and have documented pedagogical competence. The candidate is expected to have experience of conducting research relating to information- or data practices, scholarly/scientific or professional work or similar, and to demonstrate very good skills in both written and oral English.

 

Additional qualifications: Special weight will be attached to the applicant’s research expertise, but pedagogical expertise and administrative skills will also be taken into consideration. In the evaluation of research expertise, the most important factor is quality.

 

Meriting: Relevant practical or scholarly experience on data and information practices or behaviour in archaeology, documentation practices, science studies, archiving and preservation or management of research data is considered as an advantage as well as experience of the use of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.

 

How to apply: A complete application must contain:

  •  A CV including a list of the scientific/scholarly works especially relevant for the project, together with information about research, teaching and other relevant work to date.
  • Three writing samples (texts written individually by the applicant. 
  • Copy of degree diploma and other official transcripts.
  • Names and contact information of two references.
  • A personal letter (at most 2 pages) describing the reasons why the applicant is applying for the position as a research fellow and the research the applicant would be interested to conduct during his/her time as a research associate. The description should also clearly state how the applicant’s proposed project relates to the general research project.

 

Salary: Individually negotiated salary.

Starting date:  2023-01-01 or as otherwise agreed.

Type of position: Part time or fulltime permanent position.
