Department of Physics and Astronomy

Project manager for the FREIA laboratory specializing in accelerator, cryo- and vacuum technology

The Department of Physics and Astronomy is looking for a project manager who will work with particle accelerators and instrument development. The Department of Physics and Astronomy is one of the largest at Uppsala University with close to 400 employees and is located in the Ångström Laboratory in Uppsala. The department includes the FREIA laboratory, which conducts research on particle accelerators and instrumentation. Current projects have particular focus on the superconducting accelerator at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund for materials research, and its upgrade to enable research with neutrinos, the high-luminosity upgrade of the LHC at CERN in Geneva for particle physics research, and the development of free-electron lasers and electron diffraction for measuring ultra-fast processes in atomic and molecular physics. Applicants are offered the opportunity to work in an exciting, modern research environment and will have the opportunity to collaborate with leading groups in experimental and theoretical physics both locally and globally.
