Project manager for the FREIA laboratory specializing in accelerator, cryo- and vacuum technology
The Department of Physics and Astronomy is looking for a project manager who will work with particle accelerators and instrument development. The Department of Physics and Astronomy is one of the largest at Uppsala University with close to 400 employees and is located in the Ångström Laboratory in Uppsala. The department includes the FREIA laboratory, which conducts research on particle accelerators and instrumentation. Current projects have particular focus on the superconducting accelerator at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund for materials research, and its upgrade to enable research with neutrinos, the high-luminosity upgrade of the LHC at CERN in Geneva for particle physics research, and the development of free-electron lasers and electron diffraction for measuring ultra-fast processes in atomic and molecular physics. Duties
The project manager will, in collaboration with other group members of the FREIA laboratory, work on the development of advanced accelerators and instruments. She/he will manage the work during construction, tests, operation and/or maintenance of research equipment such as superconducting accelerator components, cryostats and a helium liquefaction facility.
Regular presentations of the activities in contact with specialists in various subjects at Uppsala and at other laboratories as well as participation in the operation and evaluation of experiments within the FREIA laboratory. The projects are organized on a national and international level and therefore sometimes require traveling.

We are looking for candidates with a strong interest in research and technology with an ambition and ability to collaborate and exchange knowledge with other experts in the field and a willingness to travel for this purpose. You must be innovative, willing to take responsibility and be able to run several activities at the same time.
Additional qualifications
The application must be written in Swedish or English, should contain a brief description of the applicant's interest in technology and relevant experience, CV, copies of diplomas and grades, and other documents that the applicant wishes to refer to.

The employment is a permanent position (probationary period may be applied). Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 1th December 2023 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
