The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace research and offer courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 90 persons are employed at the Department and at present some 300-400 students are enrolled every academic year. The Department of Peace and UCDP is looking for a full-time research assistant in the Uppsala Conflict Data Program (UCDP) for the period October 2022 – April 2023 (7 months).

Duties
Tasks include collecting and coding information about organized violence, and updating texts in the UCDP Encyclopedia. Other tasks may be added based on the needs of the UCDP.

Requirements
The applicant must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in peace and conflict studies
  • Good knowledge of political violence and theories of war and peace
  • Very good knowledge of UCDP and its definitions
  • Documented experience of working with conflict data (coding/data management)
  • Very good English in speech and writing
  • Documented experience of working independently
  • Good ability to cooperate.

Additional qualifications

  • Master's degree in peace and conflict studies.
