The Division of Microsystems Engineering at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering conducts research on the use of microsystems in a variety of scientific fields, from biology to space technology. Common to all research is the desire to investigate how the properties of systems change when they are made smaller, and how these properties can be used to create simpler, cheaper and above all more functional technology.

Work duties
In an ongoing project continue research and development of techniques for inertial microfluidics and demonstration by sorting biological particles that are less than one micrometre in cross section. The assignments may also include supervision of students in projects related to the research issues

Qualification requirements
Doctoral degree in materials science or microsystem technology. We require documented experience and solid knowledge in inertial microfluidics.

We require good oral and written proficiency in English.

Personal qualities, such as the ability to lead and run projects and at the same time be able to interact with other researchers are very important. You must be purposeful, structured and be able to work effectively both individually and in groups. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability,

Additional qualifications
It is of high merit to have experience with systems that can focus and sort particles that are less than one micrometre in cross section.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, 4 months. Scope of employment 20%. Starting date as soon as possible or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala.
