The Department of Women's and Children's Health (KBH) (https://kbh.uu.se) is an international and multi-professional department that focuses on health and welfare. The global health perspective is always present, and we collaborate across professions and clinical areas, within both education and research.

The employment in placed in the research group Healthcare science and eHealth at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health. The research group hosts the strategic research programme Uppsala Psychosocial Care Programme U-CARE (http://www.u-care.uu.se). The purpose of U-CARE is to offer internet-based psychosocial support and psychological self-help to all those who need such help because of a physical illness, no matter where in Sweden they live and no matter what kind of psychosocial resources are available to them locally.

Within the Healthcare Sciences and eHealth research group, there is a group connected to Uppsala MedTech Science & Innovation (https://medtech.uu.se/), an interdisciplinary research center focusing on medical engineering and eHealth. The group is led by associate professor Maria Hägglund, and studies the design, implementation and use of eHealth and new technology within healthcare and for self-care.

Duties
In your role as a researcher, you will have varying tasks and be involved in several ongoing research projects, mainly; ”Beyond implementation of eHealth” and ”Nordic eHealth for Patients: Benchmarking and Developing for the Future” (https://nordehealth.eu/). The projects aim to explore factors that will affect the implementation and use of eHealth as a tool for collaboration between patients and healthcare professionals, as well as recommend and design concrete interventions or tools to ensure that eHealth solutions are actually used. One of the most discussed eHealth solutions to be implemented in Sweden and internationally is patient’s access to their electronic health records (in Sweden “Journalen”, in the US open notes). This is the main focus in both projects describe above, which are both international collaborations with partners in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, and the USA. Ethical aspects of patients’ online access to their health records is a key aspect of both projects, and will be the main focus for this researcher position. This will also be relevant for the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) Health Data Sweden, where the researcher can also be involved.

You will be recruiting research participants, perform interviews, participate in analysis and writing, and contribute to organizing research seminars and outreach events. You are expected to be able to independently lead research projects and apply for funding. Teaching on both master and PhD level is expected.

Requirements
The person who will be offered the position must have a PhD degree in a for the position relevant area, e.g. health informatics/eHealth, ethics, philosophy of medicine. Previous research on patients’ online access to their health records with a focus on ethical aspects is a requirement. The applicant must have experience of both quantitative and qualitative research, literature studies, and Delphi-studies. The person must be interested in and able to; work independently; express themselves very well in spoken and written English; and be well organized. The person who is offered the position must have a strong interest in and knowledge about eHealth and digitalization of healthcare (in a Swedish and/or international context). Further, we require excellent computer skills and ability to work with different software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

As teaching will be part of the position, we require previous teaching experiences.

A track record of scientific publications in journals or conferences within the eHealth/Health informatics or Medical Ethics areas is required.

Personal qualities are very important, such as flexibility, ability to prioritize, and quality awareness. As an applicant, you should have easy to collaborate and enjoy working both independently and in project teams.

Additional qualifications
Experience of popular science communication, oral presentations, and collaboration in international research projects are a merit for this position.
