Uppsala University, Department of Chemistry - Ångström Laboratory

The Department of Chemistry - Ångström conducts research and education in the chemistry field. The department has more than 250 employees and has a turnover of 250 million SEK. At the department's six programs, we conduct very successful research of a high international standard. The researcher will be part of Dr. Haining Tian’s group (https://www.kemi.uu.se/research/physical-chemistry/research-groups/haining-tian-group/) within the physical chemistry program.

Duties
The main duties involved in this position is to conduct research. The candidate will perform research to develop and study organic polymer nano-particles in bio-hybrid systems for solar fuel production. The candidate will collaborate with several groups within EU and China.  Teaching may also be included, but up to no more than 20% of working hours.

Requirements
For employment as researcher, the applicant should have a PhD exam or an international equivalent in chemistry or other for the position relevant fields. The applicant must have knowledge on photochemistry and photocatalysis and have work experience on artificial photosynthesis.

The assessment of applications is based primarily on the applicant's ability to conduct independent research based on scientific skill. Greater importance is attached to the quality of individual scientific work, than to the amount of publications. A high level of written and spoken English as well as the ability to work in a team is required.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Consideration will also be given to i.e. good collaborative skills and drive, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the administrative work within the unit/department, as well as contribute to its future development.

Additional qualifications
Experience in preparation of polymer nanoparticles and advanced spectroscopic measurements, such as transient absorption / fluorescence spectroscopy is highly meriting. Additionally, experience in photocatalysis, surface functionalization or biochemistry is advantageous. Previous postdoctoral experience or equivalent is desirable.
