Researcher in the ATLAS experiment

The research conducted at the Department of Physics and Astronomy encompasses a wide range of physics topics, distributed over ten divisions. The department is located in the Ångström laboratory and employs nearly 400 people, 125 of whom are doctoral students. It offers a broad physics curriculum to undergraduate and graduate students, participation in nationally and internationally leading projects for researchers, and opportunities for partnership with industry and various outreach activities. Duties

To lead the work to build the next generation microstrip track detector for ATLAS phase 2 upgrade. Work includes collaboration with Swedish industry for the manufacture of components and the performance of quality control. The instrument is built up in collaboration with a large number of universities and institutes from many different countries and with CERN. Central to this service is collaboration between Swedish and Nordic partners (LU, NBI, UiO) who participate in the work of completing the detector. In addition to the work of manufacturing the detector, participation in the operation of the ATLAS experiment and in the ATLAS group's operations in Uppsala is also included.

Requirements
Doctoral degree in particle physics. Excellent communication and writing skills in English, ability to work both independently and in collaboration and good programming skills (Python, C ++) are required. The service requires previous advanced experience of segmented semiconductor detectors for particle physics.

Additional qualifications

The merit is that the person is qualified in the ATLAS experiment at CERN.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, 24 months. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date June 2022 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
