Duties
The position involves teaching at introductory and possibly also advanced level. The teaching, at most five courses during the academic year 2022-2023, can be within any of the department’s subject areas (practical philosophy, theoretical philosophy and aesthetics). Exactly which courses the successful applicant teaches may in part be determined by their areas of competence. Among courses that the successful applicant might teach are courses in ethics, political philosophy, epistemology, metaphysics, philosophy of science, and analytic aesthetics. 

Requirements
To be qualified for appointment applicants must hold a PhD in philosophy or aesthetics, or have achieved equivalent scientific competence. The successful candidate must also have pedagogical training, or in some other way have acquired equivalent competence, and they must have the scientific competence, pedagogical ability and professional competence needed to carry out the tasks associated with the position. Experience of teaching practical philosophy, theoretical philosophy or analytic aesthetics is a requirement. The ability to teach in Swedish or English is a requirement.

Assessment criteria
When selecting among eligible applicants, equal weight will be given to research expertise and teaching expertise.

In assessing research expertise, quality will be the prime consideration. 

Teaching expertise comprises educational and teaching qualifications and the most important factor is pedagogical skill.

The scope of teaching experience, in terms of both breadth and depth, will also be given consideration. The pedagogical merits should be documented in such a way that both quality and scope can be assessed.

  • A short statement of scholarly, pedagogical and other activities (CV)
  • List of publications
  • Account of pedagogical merits
  • 1-2 writing samples
  • Certification of qualifications, e.g. copies of transcripts and degree certificates
  • Names and contact details of up to two referees
