Project description: We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who will work with the effects of climate change on ice-covered lakes in the Northern Hemisphere. The main objective of the global research project is to assess how lake ice properties such as crystal structure, thickness and transparency will change in a warmer climate and how these changes will affect ice stability/safety in different types of lakes. The project includes analyses of large datasets and modelling as well as field and experimental work. Since the project is of high societal value it also includes some outreach activities. The postdoctoral researcher will work in a team together with researchers from Gothenburg University and experts in the international network GLEON (Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network, www.gleon.org).
Duties: The position includes research based on analyses of large datasets, field, experimental and modelling work, as well as teamwork and some outreach activities. The position might also include some teaching.

The PhD degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application deadline. The three year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc. Eligible candidates need to demonstrate skills in analyses of large datasets, modelling and practical work such as field and laboratory work. Proficiency in written and spoken English is necessary. In the evaluation of candidates, particular emphasis will be put on personal qualities such as independence, strong intrinsic motivation and teamwork skills.
