Postdoctoral Researcher Position in C-H Functionalization Chemistry - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Uppsala University is a strong and international research environment. We are now seeking a creative and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher who would like to contribute to the development of new C-H functionalization methods using electrochemistry. The postdoctoral researcher will primarily be supervised by Dr. Oscar Verho at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry. This position will be a part of the recently initiated E-CHoSyn project, which is funded by the FORMAS foundation and will deal with the development of new C-H functionalization methods based on electrochemistry.

Duties and Project Description
The postdoctoral candidate will be joining the synthetic methodology development team of the Verho research group, and this specific position will involve the development of new C-H functionalization methods using electrochemistry. As a part of this position, the candidate is expected to document all experimental work, being able to efficiently plan research experiments and analyze their results, as well as contribute to the writing of research manuscripts. The candidate is also expected to be able to present his or her results on group meetings and various department seminars.

Requirements
The postdoctoral candidate should have a PhD degree in either organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or chemistry or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or chemistry. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered for the employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.

The candidate should have extensive research experience from the areas of organic synthesis, catalysis or transition metal chemistry.

As the main languages in our working environment are Swedish and English, the candidate must be fluent in either one of these two languages.

Additional qualifications
Furthermore, as this project will also involve the purification and characterization of organic compounds, it is considered highly valuable if the candidate has practical experience of different chromatography and spectroscopy techniques.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position of 2 years according to central collective agreement. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 1 March or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala.
