The candidate will be involved in conducting original research in biomaterials and nucleic acid research, specifically in cell bioengineering, 3D matrix development, performing transfection experiments, and 3D cell culture. The functionality of engineered drugs and formulations will be evaluated using in vitro cell culture experiments. The candidate will be involved in a national and international collaborations, conduct original interdisciplinary research involving organic chemistry and cell and molecular biology, bioengineering, and 3D cell culture. The position includes research, training courses and exchange programs.

  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Should have a strong background in performing small molecule synthesis.
  • Experience with purification methods such as flash column and thin layer chromatography is required.
  • Experience with standard characterization methods such as NMR, IR and UV spectroscopy is required.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development. Candidates with skills in academic writing demonstrated through publications in peer-reviewed will be given priority.

Additional qualifications:

  • Experience in nucleic acid chemistry, carbohydrate chemistry and nanoparticle formulations is advantageous.
  • Experience with culturing of human cells and in vitro transfection will be advantageous.
