The Department of Earth Sciences of Uppsala University focuses on subjects that range from the Earth's core to the atmosphere, on scales from submicroscopic structures in minerals to the formation of mountains and oceans, and from basic research on natural resources to research on how humans can sustainably manage these resources. Research at Natural Resources and Sustainable Development (NRHU) includes (amongst other topics) work on mineral and metal resources for society and energy transition, geohazards and resilient communities, climate and active Earth processes. Duties
The work includes preparing rock samples for geochemical analysis (rock cutting, crushing, grinding and mineral picking) as well as supporting scientific manuscript and presentation preparation. Tasks will include drafting figures with Adobe Illustrator, organizing and plotting geochemical data in Microsoft excel, processing manuscript text and corrections in Microsoft word, organizing presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint as well as a component of research administration.

Requirements
The applicant must have completed a BSc or MSc degree in Earth Sciences and have experience with rock sample preparation, chemical analysis, and Microsoft Office. Good English language skills are necessary. The work demands a good level of organizational ability, good communication skills and good time management skills.

Additional qualifications
Experience with vector graphics in e.g. Adobe Illustrator is an advantage.

The employment is a temporary position, 12 months. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 01-11-2021, or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala.
