Researcher in Computational Linguistics - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Department of Linguistics and Philology is involved in research and education in a number of languages and language-related subjects and provides an international work environment. The department´s activities cover many of the classical and modern languages and cultures in large areas of Europe, Asia and Africa, as well as computational and general linguistics. Education is offered at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels.

This position is part of the strategic research area effort eSSENCE´s PostDoc-program towards new e-science methods and tools for artificial intelligence in research.

Duties
Research and development work within the project Domain-Sensitive Cross-Lingual Parsing, which focuses on developing efficient cross-lingual parsing models that work well across diverse domains. The work includes mathematical modeling, linguistic analysis, programming, experimental research and dissemination of scientific results in speech and writing. In addition, the researcher may be involved in teaching and student supervision up to 20% of full time.

Requirements
To qualify for an employment as a researcher you must have a PhD degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in computational linguistics or another field strongly connected to the research are, such as computer science, and documented knowledge of machine learning.

Additional qualifications

In the assessment, we will prioritize candidates with strong skills in machine learning, especially with neural networks, programming, mathematical modeling, and linguistic analysis, as well as a proven ability to write scientific texts in English. Experience of research on syntactic dependency parsing and domain adaptation will be regarded as an asset.

About the employment
The employment is a temporary position, 12 months. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 01-12-2021 or as otherwise agreed.
