Uppsala University, Department of Women's and Children's Health

The present postdoctoral position is within the research group Healthcare Sciences and e-Health, hosting U-CARE, an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research program (http://www.u-care.uu.se), at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health. The U-CARE group specializes in the development, piloting, and evaluation of e-Mental Health interventions for people with somatic disease, and their significant others. U-CARE has several international collaborations and our broad competence within research methodology was acknowledged in the latest evaluation of research conducted at Uppsala University. As specialists in e-Health / e-Mental Health, we have an in-house research and intervention portal, the U-CARE portal (Portal). The Portal is developed within U-CARE and is designed to deliver internet-administered psychological interventions and to support the execution of research procedures (e.g., informed consent, randomization, and data collection), both for researchers within U-CARE and external clients.

Duties/Project Description: The person we are looking for will primarily work on one project, namely the design and implementation of a new version of the e-Health / e-Mental Health Portal. Due to rapid changes in digital technology, and a wish to adopt an international research perspective, we would like to develop a new version of the Portal with a focus on improvements in functionality, flexibility, and user-friendliness. The new version of the Portal will need to be designed to meet both current and future research and technical requirements. All design, development, and research activities will be in close connection with key stakeholders, including researchers, healthcare professionals, and patients and their relatives. There will also be a focus on rapid development of the new version of the Portal, without sacrificing quality, whilst building a sustainable and maintainable system for future business needs.

Requirements: To be eligible for the position, you must have a doctoral degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, or a similar related field, and be able to document expertise in areas relevant to the position. You must have defended your doctoral thesis within the last three years and have an approved PhD dissertation by the application deadline. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, military/national service etc. High levels of oral and written proficiency in English are required. You will also have documented experience of systems architecture and action design research.

In addition you must have:

  • Previous experience in designing and managing digital infrastructures for the execution of research procedures
  • Specialist knowledge in the following technologies: C#, ASP.NET, SQL server, jQuery, and Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Very good ability to collaborate, build and maintain good working relationships, adapt communication to situations, interpret others' ways of expressing their needs and wishes and transfer information between different contexts and groups with different perspectives and pre-understanding.
