A position as a researcher in Evolutionary Genetics is available at the Department of Ecology and Genetics, Evolutionary Biology program.

Project description: This project will examine the genetic basis of phenotypic plasticity using waterstriders as a model system. The work will focus on understanding the transcriptomic response to photoperiod on wing development and the nutritional response to leg size development. De novo assemblies from several species will be used in this project. The candidate is expected to spend extended periods at the IGFL in Lyon, France.
Duties: Genome assembly and annotation. Phenotyping and genotyping using whole genome re-sequencing of individuals followed by association studies and other population genetic analyses.
Requirements: A doctoral degree, or a foreign degree equivalent to a doctoral degree, in bioinformatics or genetics. We attach great importance to personal qualities such as motivation, creativity and ability to do team-work. Candidates must be able to express themselves fluently in spoken as well as written English.
Additional qualifications: Experience in statistics, genome assemblies and developmental biology.
Salary: Individual salary.
Starting date: 01-09-2021 or as otherwise agreed.
Type of employment: Temporary position for 12 months.
