The Department of Earth Sciences at Uppsala University focuses on subjects that range from the Earth’s core to the atmosphere, on scales from submicroscopic structures in minerals to the formation of mountains and oceans, and from basic research on natural resources to research on how humans manage these resources in a sustainable way. The Baltic University Programme is an international university programme in the Baltic Sea Region, focusing on education and research for sustainable development. Read more at The Baltic University Programme. The programme is coordinated by a secretariat at Uppsala University, at the Department of Earth Sciences. To the secretariat, we are now looking for a project administrator.

Duties: Tasks will include:

  • Coordinating and arranging meetings, seminars and conferences, together with partner universities in the countries around the Baltic Sea Region.

  • Maintain contact with the programme’s participating universities and centres in each country.

  • Project coordination with an emphasis on the development of new course modules for online teaching.

  • Contribute to the development of new projects and applying for funding, within the frame of the Baltic University Programme.

  • Assist in different types of administrative tasks at the secretariat.

 

 

Requirements: We are searching for you with a university degree in sustainability science, environmental science or another university degree that the employer deems relevant in relation to the work tasks. It is important that you have a good knowledge about the region and experience of working in an international academic environment since the work tasks include many contacts with universities around the Baltic Sea Region. Good English skills, both in speaking and writing, is a requirement. We place great importance on personal characteristics. As a person, you are proactive, communicative, responsible and flexible. You have a good organizational and collaboration ability, a good sense of service, are social and outgoing and are easy to build trust in dialogue with others. You need to have experience in administrative/project work, as well as online teaching, preferably from previous work in an international organization.

Additional qualifications: We would like you to have an interest in questions surrounding the Baltic Sea region and as well as knowledge in Swedish and one/several other languages in the Baltic Sea region. Previous experience of organizing conferences, meetings, project coordination in an international environment, as well as the development of academic web-based courses/modules and experience of teaching, especially in a Baltic Sea context are seen as extra merit.


Salary: Individual salary.

Starting date: 16-08-2021 or as otherwise agreed.

Type of employment: Temporary position ending 31-12-2021.

Scope of employment: 50 %.
