The research conducted at the Department of Physics and Astronomy encompasses a wide range of physics topics, distributed over ten divisions. The department is located in the Ångström laboratory and employs nearly 400 people, 125 of whom are doctoral students. It offers a broad physics curriculum to undergraduate and graduate students, participation in nationally and internationally leading projects for researchers, and opportunities for partnership with industry and various outreach activities. The Division of Materials Theory is known to have a world-class research environment in solid state theory, including both numerical and analytical models. The research is focused on electronic structures, magnetism, topological phases of matter, correlated phenomena and green energy solutions.

Duties: The researcher will be part of a larger theoretical team focusing on research of magnetic materials, correlated electronic structures and new materials. The focus will be on a quantum mechanical description of the electronic structure and/or magnetic excitations. The applicant is expected to have expertise in programming and/or analytical tools connected to theory of magnetism and electronic structure theory.

Requirements: The applicant is expected to have a PhD degree in Physics, with a good background in solid-state physics and theory in general. 

Additional qualifications: Experience with electronic structure theory applied to magnetic materials is a required merit.

The application should include a statement of research interest, CV, certificates of exams, degrees and grades, a copy of the PhD thesis, or equivalent, published articles and other relevant materials, if available. Also, letter(s) of recommendation can be included.

Salary: Individual salary.

Starting date: 01-09-2021 or as otherwise agreed.
