Description of the subject area: The didactics of computer science is a subject didactic research area where learning and teaching in the subject of computer science is studied. In addition to traditional aspects, such as learning and teaching related to computer science concepts and design of computer science education programs in higher education, issues such as how identity, culture and gender aspects affect the conditions for conducting computer education at different levels in the subject are included. The question of how a computer science education should prepare students to be able to contribute constructively to the development of society, including in terms of sustainability and climate impact, is also part of the subject.

The subject is interdisciplinary where computer science and educational science are components and the emphasis between them varies depending on the current issue. In relation to other subject didactic research, general educational science issues constitute a cohesive link, while the difference between subjects means that the different subject didactic research fields are unique and have a place in their respective subjects.

Duties/Project description: The research work takes place in collaboration with researchers in the research group UpCERG and especially in close collaboration with some of the senior members. The researchers at UpCERG have different specialties and the tasks will largely depend on who becomes the main supervisor and the applicant's own interests. In the application, we want a description of an initial problem area and a draft of a project as a basis for recruitment.

The employment is a maximum of five years and can include departmental service of a maximum of 20% (usually teaching) and course studies.

Requirements: The applicant must have a master's degree, a master's degree in engineering, a master's degree or an equivalent degree and knowledge in a subject that is relevant to the doctoral student position.
