The Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Uppsala University is a strong and international research environment. The department has about 85 employees. More information about the department can be found at www.ilk.uu.se.

Research group: You will be based in the Translational PET Imaging research group located by the Rudbeck Laboratory at Uppsala University. The lab is associated with Science for Life Laboratory (https://www.scilifelab.se/researchers/olof-eriksson) and focuses on development of molecular imaging methodologies for improved diagnosis, management and treatment of disease (https://www.ilk.uu.se/research-groups/translational-imaging/). The research group is part of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry (www.ilk.uu.se).

Project description: The aim of the project is to develop and evaluate PET radiopharmaceuticals for in vivo molecular imaging of disease processes in metabolic disease. The radiopharmaceutical development will include fluorine-18, carbon-11 and radiometal radiolabelling of small molecules and peptides. The applicant will collaborate with a team of biologists for the in vitro evaluation and in vivo evaluation of the radiopharmaceuticals. Apart from research, the researcher may participate in teaching and routine maintenance of the lab.

Work Duties: The main duties of researcher are to devote themselves to their research studies which includes participating in research projects. The work duties can also include supervision, teaching and other departmental duties (no more than 20%).

Qualification required: We welcome applications from candidates that have a PhD degree in radiochemistry or chemistry.

At least one-year postdoctoral experience of fluorine-18, carbon-11 or radiometal labelling of small molecules and peptides is required. The applicant must be fluent in English with excellent communication skills.

Meritous: Experience in automated synthesis of radiopharmaceuticals is preferred. Completed courses in laboratory animal science or radiation protection are an advantage.

Instructions for Application: The application should be written in English and contain a cover letter describing how the applicant fits to the selecting criteria listed in qualification section, an updated CV including a list of previous publications, as well as copies of certificates of higher academic degrees. Please also attach contact details (name, e-mail, phone number) to at least two referees and/or letters of recommendation.

Selection process: The assessment of applications is based primarily on the applicant's ability to conduct independent research based on scientific skill.

Selection of candidates is based on qualifications, previous work and/or research experience within the field, and personal suitability.

Salary: Individually negotiated salary.

Starting date: June 2021 or as agreed.

Type of employment: Temporary position for two years.
