The Department of Medical Sciences is a large clinical institution with more than 250 employees and over 300 additional coworkers connected via the Uppsala University Hospital. The Department of Medical Sciences has a broad research profile with strong research groups in a number of different areas. The research carried out at the department is performed in close connection with the clinical activities at the Uppsala University Hospital, which includes both basic studies on the causes of a variety of illnesses and the development and evaluation of improved diagnostics and new treatment methods. Duties/Project description: The focus of the tasks is on mass spectrometry. You will work in an interdisciplinary team, partly at Uppsala University and partly at Karolinska Institutet, which uses and develops new methods for mass spectrometry-based proteomics analysis. You will prepare and analyze samples from different biological matrices, as well as handle, troubleshoot and maintain instruments regularly and work independently in the areas of mass spectrometry and HPLC. You will also prepare technical reports, scientific articles and present work at internal and external meetings.

You will spend part-time at Clinical Chemistry, Department of Medical Sciences, Uppsala University and part-time at the Division of Rheumatology, Department of Medicine Solna, Karolinska Institutet.

Requirements: Doctoral degree, or a foreign degree that is judged to correspond to a doctoral degree, in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or a related field with a focus on proteomics and mass spectrometry. Relevant research experience. Extensive experience in proteomics, including sample preparation, IP-MS and data analysis using ex. Proteome Discoverer / MaxQuant / OpenMS or similar. Direct experience with Q-Exactive Orbitrap and nano-HPLC instrumentation.

Very good, documented, knowledge of English in speech and writing is a requirement. The person we are looking for should be very motivated. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability such as team spirit, flexibility, ability to prioritize, and quality awareness. You are easy to work with and enjoy working both independently and in small project groups. Good recommendations from previous supervisor / postdoctoral stays are a requirement.

Additional qualifications: Previous experience in the fields of metabolomics, lipid analysis, MRM, and quantitative proteomics. Documented practical experience of R, and statistical and bioinformatics analyzes of -omic data and using HPC / cloud-based methods for processing and analysis of large-scale data.
