Researcher in Computational Linguistics - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Department of Linguistics and Philology is involved in research and education in a number of languages and language-related subjects and provides an international work environment. The department’s activities cover many of the classical and modern languages and cultures in large areas of Europe, Asia and Africa, as well as computational and general linguistics. Education is offered at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels.

Duties: Research and development work within the project Neural Pronoun Models for Machine Translation (funded by the Swedish Research Council), which studies models for generating pronouns in neural machine translation. The work includes mathematical modeling, linguistic analysis, software development, experimental research and dissemination of scientific results in speech and writing. In addition, the researcher may be involved in teaching and student supervision up to 20% of full time.

Requirements: To be eligible for the position, the applicant must have a PhD degree in computational linguistics, or another field strongly connected to the research area, and documented knowledge of machine learning for natural language processing.

Additional qualifications: In the assessment, we will prioritize candidates with strong skills in programming, mathematical modeling, machine learning, and linguistic analysis, as well as a proven ability to write scientific text in English. Experience of research and development in neural machine translation, neural coreference resolution or other multilingual neural NLP models will be regarded as an asset.

Salary: Individual salary.

Starting date: 01-03-2021 or as otherwise agreed.

Type of employment: Temporary position for at least 18 months.
