SciLifeLab Ancient DNA is a core facility that provides analysis of ancient DNA as a service to researchers, contract archaeologists, museum staff and others. Duties/Project description:  Work in ancient DNA clean room laboratory and regular molecular biology laboratories to generate DNA sequence data from mainly human and animal specimens, but also other types of material. The work includes lab management, project documentation, sampling, DNA extraction, library preparation, quality controls and routine cleaning of the laboratory. An important task is to follow the literature on ancient DNA analysis and improve, develop and implement relevant new methods.

Requirements: PhD in molecular biology, biomedicine, genetics or other topic that the employer see as equivalent. Documented experience of ancient DNA laboratory work. Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. An emphasis is made on personal qualities, such as planning and organisational skill, ability to cooperate, being service minded, reliability and meticulousness.

Additional qualifications: Experience of research in molecular biology. Experience of work with ancient DNA in in clear-room laboratory and high-throughput DNA sequencing. Experience of work in a molecular biology core facility.

Salary: According to agreement.

Starting date: December 14, 2020, or according to agreement.

Type of employment: Senior research engineer, permanent employment.
